  1. Hi Jerry, I have no idea why some people split moths into macro and micro. Their code numbers follow on, with butterflies in the middle, and there is no difference. In my records the whole lot are classed as 'moths'. Its much easier to get to grips with that way...

    1. Thanks Stewart, I'm sure you are right. As I understand it there's no finite crireria that separates macro from micro or even moth from butterfly. Perhaps I should rename the page 'lepidoptera'. Yet our county recorder even sticks to the practice of naming macros by the vernacular and micros only by their latin names (which is the only reason really why I do the same).
