Party Time!

Permission had been granted to us to close our Road yesterday (Monday) for our fantastic:
Diamond Jubilee Street Party!
The last time this happened was for VE Day in 1945.
We live in a fabulous road with many lovely friends.

Thomas and Anna soaking up the atmosphere!

Hal gave us all an amazing street-science-show-spectacular!

Aparently this is a highly unusual chemical reaction where no heat is given off, instead the energy is displayed purely in the form of light (see, I was listening!).

Of course, I could explain this one too but you probably wouldn't understand it.

It was great fun to photograph the party from our bedroom window.

We spread out all our food and drink in one vast 'bring and share' - I thought I'd died and gone to heaven!!

Rather him than me!

Our red van seems to go well with the general colour scheme!

By this point in the proceedings we were comparing our various home brew (Monson Road grape wines, Elderberry wine, Sloe gin... hic...)!!!

  4. Dear Jerry, it's great that the Jubilee Festival and the joy of family for your son's concert are fused together!
And the street party among people
sharing the everyday life with the joys and difficulties ... A big hug for all you!
I also understand the pride for the Queen, a woman
truly exceptional that I admire very much! Truly God
save her for many many years to come!

  5. A lovely round up of all the recent exciting events in your life Jerry. So nice that you at least had some sunshine for the street party, I suppose it was inevitable that you would have some rain though, given the name of the road ;-) It did look like a very good time was had by all!

What a lovely family celebration you had at the church too, a belated but very Happy Birthday to Karen!

Last but not least, many congratulations to Thomas on the performance of his composition. It looked and sounded like a wonderful experience and as I keep saying you must all be so very proud of him :-)

  6. I've been reading a lot about the Queen's 60th Jubilee, and it's all so interesting, but seeing celebrations up close like your neighborhood street party really brings the Jubilee to life! What a fantastic party.

...also took some time to catch up on past posts. Loved reading about your son's music. I'm going to go back and click through to the article you have linked. I have no musical talent. I'm always amazed at what musicians can do.
