After my recent visit to Sheppey, I hinted in the previous post that I fancy painting a beach scene.
I think I'm going to paint it in acrylics but I'm currently using them to paint a harp decoration (its to
be a surprise for the recipient). So in the mean time, I've taken up a suggestion from Sonia and painted
this quick watercolour of Harty Ferry Road; the road near Capel Fleet Raptor Watchpoint. |
This is a great watercolour from your photo reference. I really like how you have left a piece of white on the telegraph poles etc.
ReplyDeleteThank you Ann - glad you liked the white paper effect.
Delete¡¡¡Muy bien!!!
Thanks for the idea! I'm relieved that it didn't disappoint you and that it emphasised the features you were hoping for. Saludos Sonia.
DeleteDear Jerry with the "patronage" of Sonia, I see at least ,from you,a work in watercolour inspired by the beautiful outdoor around you!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations for this performance and I hope that ... this is the first of many more watercolours! You caught in essential but incisive way the mood of the season and the place. Well done!
Have nice week end!Rita.
Thank you Rita, I'm so pleased you like it. The fact that you describe it as "essential but incisive" makes me feel very happy as it's the direction I'm trying to do with my watercolour style. Hopefully I'll get some time over my Christmas break to do some more.
DeleteI like to watch the work of blogger friends, with eyes and heart and put it in the comment. I also love for me the words from other bloggers- friends that helps me to focus my way of painting.
DeleteI'm glad you approve! The blog is a dialogue for us, as if we were neighbors that ... live inside a computer! Smile and Hugs, Rita.
Jerry lucky you to have seen the elusive bearded tit which you mention in your previous post. I've seen all the other wonderful birds you mention but not that one. I keep trying to spot one but I'm finding they just avoid me. It is one of my ambitions to hopefully get to see one some day. Love the expansive openness and space you have created in your painting. I can just imagine driving down that track along the English countryside and maybe even driving towards the possible sighting of a bearded tit. Take care.
ReplyDeleteLaura, often the first thing to draw attention to a Bearded Tit is the "ping" call. If you learn that, one day you'll be near a reed-bed and suddenly shout "there's a Bearded Tit!!!". There's a good recording of one on the RSPB website at http://www.rspb.org.uk/wildlife/birdguide/name/b/beardedtit/index.aspx
DeleteThanks Jerry. I'll keep my ears open for the "ping" in future.
DeleteOh yes, I remember this picture, and you painted a great watercolour! It's a wonderful scene and you created great depth! I love the white you left!
ReplyDeleteThanks Judy, for the 'white bits' I didn't use masking fluid, I just made sure that when I wetted the paper for the sky wash I left those ares dry so the colour didn't bleed into them.
DeleteA fine water colour Jerry, easily recognizable from your photograph on your previous post.Well done!! I'm sure the recipient of the harp will be delighted with your kind gesture!!
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your weekend,happy painting:)
Thanks Sonjia, there is a story regarding the harp which I can't disclose yet, just in case the recipient bumps into my blog!
DeleteA lovely watercolour Jerry. I would never have known it was a 'quick' painting. I like the way it shows us a little more of the scene than we saw in the photo.
ReplyDeleteThank you Jan. I find watercolours are generally the better for painting 'slickly' otherwise they can easily look overworked.
DeleteEstupenda acuarela, Jerry. Captaste a la perfección la atmósfera peculiar de esos caminos desolados.
ReplyDeleteGlad you like it Francesc. yes it is quite a bleak and desolate road which leads only to an isolated pub by the sea!
