Two Little Dolls for Two Little Girls.

My wife Karen, has been busy creating these charming dolls for our two little great-nieces Charlotte and Hannah. The fun thing about them is that the dolls match Charlotte and Hannah's hair and eye colour.

When the girls get them, I have to admit that I'll miss seeing them sitting in the chair by the fire in our living room!

  3. Hola Jerry.
Sonia.

    1. Hi Sonia, sounds like our great-nieces are just about the same age as yours but thankfully Charlotte and Hannah live nearby. Although Thomas and Anna are older than your son I think we too will have a fair wait if or when we are to be grandparents, but all this talk is making me feel old! Warmest wishes, Jerry.

    3. Yes Francesc, I'm afraid you are right. We love to enjoy each day to the full but the older we get the quicker the days fly past.

  6. Hi Jerry I just noticed your moth list for 2012. Are you over run with moths then or do you live in the depths of the countryside? 195 different types sounds like an awful lot of moths but then again I've never counted ours, only birds. :-) Love the dolls. Those will definitely be cherished. Don't forget the moth balls to keep them safe... lol

    1. Hi Laura, I have one more moth species to add for last year but I was hoping to top 200. Although we get around 60 different butterflies in the Uk we have approx 2,500 types of moth!! I run a moth trap which has a special bulb that attracts them and a box that they then rest in; it doesn't hurt them. Far less is known about moths than birds yet they are a vital part of the food chain. I take part in the garden moth scheme which monitors numbers of the commoner moths week by week. They will gradually be able to build up a better picture as to which are becoming endangered and why. Glad you like the dolls too!

  7. Dear Jerry, now here at home there are two dolls true, they are not sitting so quiet! There is a lot of work ... three adults that count 158 years total are struggling against two "defenseless people" of 31 months in total! How to make us run!!
The dolls are very very pretty, congratulations to Karen!

  9. As soon as I saw these delightful creations I just knew they had been Individually designed or adapted for the recipients. They are beautiful and I'm sure they will be much loved, not sure I could bear to let them go, that chair will look very empty without them ;-)

Has Karen ever made any of the Jean Greenhowe figures. They are beautiful designs. I used to love making them and still would ....if I had more time ;-)

I hope you are keeping warm and safe in this harsh weather, we have had heavy snow here.

    1. Hi Jan, fortunately on the snowyest days I was painting a harp at home so only had to battle down to the shed/studio at the end of the garden. I'll have to ask Karen if she knows all about Jean Greenhowe. I've just googled her and I can see what you mean. The style is certainly very similar and I loved seeing her amazing creations.
